A juried art fair on Main Street - part of the 2013 Street Festival

This summer will mark the 7th year for Run Manchester.   Manchester Area Friends began the run back in 2008 in an attempt to help bring more people to town to support the Riverfolk Festival.  Each year the run saw its participants grow and the Run continued its success.  Sadly the Riverfolk festival was unable to continue. Not only did our town feel the loss of such a great event, the Run felt the loss also.  Once the run was over and the awards had been passed out, there was the awkwardness of having 400 people left with nothing to do…and people just got back into their cars and went home.

Manchester Area Friends got together and met with the Riverfolk, the Men’s Club, The Lion’s Club, The Boy Scouts and anyone that was willing to help.  And from those early meetings in 2013, The Manchester Street Festival was born!

The Manchester Street Festival is an annual event that kicks off with Run Manchester.  This event starts on the Main Street Bridge, there is a one mile (free) fun run for the kids, a 5K and a 10K.  A juried Art Fair, The Festival Marketplace (crafters, produce and local made goods), Vintage Car Show,  Bed Races, Kids Korner, Kids Bike Races, LIVE Music in 3 locations and a dunk tank.

New this year we are happy to announce that The Chamber of Commerce will be bringing the Duck Races back to the Main Street Bridge. The Michigan Sheriffs Association will be providing 2 driving simulators. A "Block of Health" will be located on the North side of Wurster Park.  This event IS Manchester. From Main Street and M52 west to Main Street and Macomb Street, there is something for everybody. There are several more exciting things that are in the works and soon to be announced.  While the Street Festival's first year was a great success, they need you to help grow the Manchester Street Festival and make the 2nd Annual event even better!

How can you help? Please join the organizers on Thursday February 20th, 7pm at the Coffee Mill.  There will be a brief presentation and you will hear from each of the event committees followed by a question and answer period.  Whether you are part of a non-profit, a local church, a local business or just looking for a way to get involved and help make Manchester a better place to be, please come to the  meeting to learn more.
