Saturday was absolutely beautiful.  The sun was shining, the birds were busy making new nests for the season – unfortunately, this was in my neighbor’s fascia board, but nonetheless beautiful to see signs of spring.  It was hard to pass up the opportunity to take a walk in town.

Unforgettable photos hosted a vendor showcase as a fundraising event for Relay for Life.  One of the vendors was Grant W. Willis.  Grant is a spray paint artist.  He creates his  incredibly artistic work with only cans of spray paint (Rustoleum is his paint of choice), painting knives, lids, plastic bags, and ordinary paper.

You may have seen this type of work before.  If you haven’t you should check out his Facebook page or click here to see a small sampling of his items currently for sale.  If you would like to see more of this type of art, go to youtube and type in “spray paint street art.” There are a ton of examples – all truly breathtaking to watch.

While Grant has always been artistic, the ideas for this work came…wait for it…while he was in a coma.  Not just a food coma, like many of us experience after Sunday meals, but the real deal.  He spent two months in a coma during the summer of 2012 and he says he dreamt of strange worlds.  These paintings are his attempt to recreate and see those lands again.

Grant will create using custom colors and will always take requests.  His fees are reasonable.  Depending on size, these one-of-a-kind paintings start around $30.00.  He can be reached at 734-277-8510.
