The Washtenaw Farm Bureau will take farmers living in the Western Lake Erie Basin Watershed on a cruise on the 65-foot Sandpiper on the Maumee River and Lake Erie on Friday, August 22 from 9 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn more about harmful algae blooms and conservation practices to protect water resources. After cruising the river and lake, participants will have lunch at Tony Packo's Original Restaurant in Toledo.

Seating is limited, so if you are a farmer in the River Raisin watershed (which includes: Manchester, Bridgewater & Saline Townships; the west half of York Township; the south half of Sharon, Freedom & Lodi Townships; and southwest Pittsfield Township) and are interested in participating, make reservations with the Washtenaw Farm Bureau by calling (734) 944-1469 or the Washtenaw Conservation District at (734) 671-6721 ext. 5.

This event is possible because the Washtenaw County Farm Bureau, in collaboration with the Conservation District, has been awarded a Conservation/MAEAP Educational Grant. These grants are a result of a partnership program between Michigan Farm Bureau and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to develop projects that benefit Farm Bureau membership through conservation education opportunities.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
