The Washtenaw County Road Commission has announced that today, Monday October 6, they will be moving construction operations to Site 4, (see the attached map for more details). They will be working on river bank stabilization, culvert replacements, and guardrail installation. Austin Road will remain closed from State Highway M-52 to Clinton Road.

The road will be open to local traffic only up until the point of their hard closure at Site 4. The detour will be Clinton Road to US-12 (Michigan Ave) to M-52. It is anticipated that work at this location will take approximately one week to complete. The contractor will be performing an additional closure at Site 5 after work is completed at Site 4. Austin Road will remain closed until the end of October as the contractor performs the necessary work at the additional locations. Due to weather conditions, these dates are tentative and subject to change.

The Road Commission asks that to maintain the safety of road crews, you please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. And they thank you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.

If you have any questions concerning this change, please contact Mr. Brent Schlack, PE, Traffic and Safety Supervisor, at (734) 327-6670, or via email at schlackb@wcroads.org.
