Teachers play an important role in our community and in the lives of our children. Last year's Teachers of the Month were highly accomplished and recognized professionals both within and outside of the classroom. After a summer hiatus, and giving everyone a month or so to get to know their children's new teachers, the Manchester Mirror is reinstating this popular feature for the 2014-15 school year.

Each month of the school year (through June) we plan to honor an outstanding teacher in the Manchester Community School district. The Teacher of the Month will receive a certificate of excellence and coverage in The Mirror.

Selection Criteria

Each month, from October through June, The Mirror will recognize a different teacher based on his or her contributions to the school, excellence in the classroom, leadership abilities, citizenship and a variety of other criteria. Teachers will be nominated and selected based on the following:

l. Excellence in the Classroom - engaging classroom instructional practices that consistently advance students to higher levels of academic achievement.
2. Motivation/Dedication- having the ability and desire to motivate and encourage students to advance past their expectations both academically and socially.
3. Leadership- serving as a positive role model for students in the classroom, throughout the school, and/or throughout the community of Manchester.
4. Creativity and Imagination- demonstrating creativity and imagination in their lesson plans and teaching methods that inspire students to learn.

How to Submit

You may submit your nomination by the 20th of each month by completing the form linked at the top of this page and emailing it to themanchestermirror@gmail.com. All submissions will be kept and are all eligible to be used at any time.

All submissions become property of The Manchester Mirror. Your submission, if chosen, will be posted online for public viewing. For alternate forms of submission contact themanchestermirror@gmail.com.
