American Legion and Auxiliary members gathered last weekend in recognition of Veterans Day.

The American Legion and Auxiliary, Post and Unit 117, of Manchester, gathered to celebrate the service of area veterans on November 9.

"We express our sincere appreciation to the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces," said Auxiliary Unit President Jeannine Uphouse, in a statement provided to the Mirror. "We thank them for their service to this great country.

"Thank you for protecting us. Thank you for the security we have and feel here at home. You sacrificed much for your country and for all of us. Though you may no longer wear the uniform, we know that you're always on call to serve and protect the freedom and security of the United States of America."

On behalf of the Legion and Auxiliary, Uphouse invited the community to pause during Veteran's Day week, in appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who bravely fought for our freedom.
