Update from Marsha Chartrand:

In a small community like Manchester, residents don't expect to wake up on a Monday morning and hear of a burglary at a local store.

But that's what happened when the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office announced a break-in and robbery at the Manchester Pharmacy in the early morning hours of Dec. 15. A Nixle advisory was sent to local subscribers via email, alerting them to the situation.

The "smash-and-grab" operation was over quickly. By the time the Manchester deputy responded, just minutes after the alarm was set off, the group of masked suspects, garbage bags filled with narcotics, were gone.

The scene was similar to many others that had been perpetrated in Southeast Michigan over the past several months, although most had occurred in areas where there was easier access to interstate highways.

Alert Saline police officers, who were notified of the burglary, noticed two cars with six people in them passing through the city and made a traffic stop without incident. With the help of Pittsfield Township officers, evidence of the crime was discovered in the vehicles and arrests were made.

The suspects are reportedly residents of Detroit. The investigation is ongoing as part of a wider probe of the various cases that have happened recently.
