Western Washtenaw Democrats will be holding their annual meeting this Wednesday, January 28, 2015 6:00 p.m. at The Chelsea Depot; 125 Jackson Street in Chelsea. The meeting is open to the public. In addition to holding elections for executive board members, they will be hosting Scott Menzel, Superintendent of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD). Mr Menzel will discuss the sales tax increase ballot proposal, to appear on Michigan ballots this May, and its impact on school funding, along with the potential annexation of Whitmore Lake Public Schools by Dexter Community Schools.

Scott Menzel became superintendent of Washtenaw Intermediate School District on July 1, 2011. Prior to that, he spent four years as superintendent of the Livingston Education Service Agency and five years as superintendent of Whitmore Lake Public Schools, giving him unique insight into the implications of annexation, including possible benefits to students, employees, and the communities of both districts.
