Freedom Township Renews Local Road Maintenance Millage

According to the unofficial election results offered by the Washtenaw County Government, Freedom Township voted 262 Yes and 163 No on the local road maintenance millage. This local road maintenance millage was separate from the statewide road issue present on all ballots in today's special election.

 

Here is the language that Freedom Township voters approved:

 

FREEDOM TOWNSHIP RENEWAL TAX-RATE LIMITATION AND LEVY PROP. (ROAD MAINTENANCE) 

Freedom Township

Renewal Tax-Rate Limitation and Levy Proposal (Road Maintenance)

Shall the expired previous voted increases in the tax limitations imposed under Article IX,  Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Freedom Township, of .25 mills ($0.25 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to .25 mills ($.25 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted .25 mills ($0.25 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for five (5) years, 2015 through 2019, inclusive, for road maintenance, raising an estimated $23,000 in the first year the millage is levied.
