Summer's arrival means the beginning of Ice Cream Social season in Manchester and the surrounding areas!

Would you like to know how to spend some evenings during those lazy, hazy days of summer? Try out the ice cream socials as hosted by our area churches. They begin on June 19 and continue on a nearly weekly basis until August 7.

With the exception of St. Paul UCC, socials are held outside on the church grounds, weather permitting. However, inclement weather never dampens spirits as everything is simply moved inside. Often there is a bake sale and bazaar where you can purchase delicious homemade treats and hand crafted items. Featured at many socials is a fish pond for the youngsters.

A full meal is served, including such items as beef or pork barbecue, hot dog, macaroni and cheese, German and American potato salads, slaw or tossed salad and baked beans. The meal can be topped off with ice cream, cake and/or at some socials, a piece of pie.

All socials have one thing in common in addition to the fine meal and that is a chance for fellowship with old friends and new. Listed below are the socials in our area:
