Friends of the Library need book donations & volunteers

ManchesterLibrary3The Friends of the Manchester District Library will be holding its monthly book donation day this Saturday, August 6th in the Village Room (lower level of the library) from 10 am to noon. They are asking for donations of non-damaged books you would like to get rid of. They can't accept magazines, text books, encyclopedias or books with odors. They received no new donations last month and the supplies which they use to stock the on-going book sale on the first and second floor of the library; and the two Free Little Libraries they give books away from at Linda's Diner on M-52 and Chi Bro Park are running low.

This month's book donation day falls at the same time as the Run Manchester Street Festival. The Friends of the Library will also have a table at the street festival in the non-profit organization section and will be accepting book donations at their booth as well. As both locations need to be staffed at once, the Friends are looking for volunteers to help either sort books at the Village Room or to work at the table at the Street Festival. If you are interested, email Patty Swaney at  Pattyswaney@gmail.com.

The next Friends meeting is in October and everyone is invited to attend.

Proceeds of the on-going book sale are used to help fund library events like the Summer Reading Program, and in the past have helped purchase a projector, continued subscriptions, paid for special groups to perform, and helped with baked goods for the student art show,
