Title: Flight Patterns
Author: Karen White

Flight Patterns is a story of estranged sisters who are forced to solve a mystery together. I liked the characters, the story development, and the description of the Gulf location. It was a little bit slow to develop, but very well worth sticking with. The pros of this book include her research into beekeeping and Limoges China. However, most of the characters did not have much depth. The plot lacked the compelling nature I have come to expect from the author. I liked the WWII connection, family interactions, dealing with and accepting the past, and then moving forward.

Title: Here’s to Us
Author: Elin Hilderbrand
This is about one family and the relationships within it. The plot revolves around one man, the family of his youth and the family he has established as an adult. This includes two divorces, children--both adopted and biological--friendships, his chosen career, and of course, money. Ultimately it is up to each individual accept the family as it is, warts and all. Complicated relationships insightfully revealed.

Author: Janet Evanovich and Phoef Sutton

A new oddball detective couple. He is a young, brilliant, eccentric billionaire with laser focus and she is a Harvard educated lawyer, daughter of a Texas sheriff, working for his bank. When he wants to physically see his gold, the adventure begins. There are hints of a growing attraction toward the end of the book. A fun and fast read.

Title: Of Sorrow and Suchunknown-2
Author: Angela Slatter

Despite its short length, this novel manages to pack in a wealth of emotion and a huge wallop of a story. The descriptions of everything in it, from characters to settings, are exquisitely wrought, and the language is lyrical without ever being overwhelming or distracting from the story. An absolute gem of a book, easily one of the best I’ve read all year.
