First Steps had a great fall kick off session of Parent-Child Play & Learn groups with Manchester families. Children age birth to three years of age (plus preschool age siblings) gathered once a week for a great time of exploration and learning. They made applesauce, painted pumpkins, had a costume parade and much, much more

The First Steps groups offer young children age-appropriate activities in a child-friendly atmosphere, while their caregivers have the opportunity to connect with other families. It provides information, support, and encouragement to help children and their families learn, grow, and develop to realize their full potential. The groups are 1 ½ hours in length and include free choice play, art projects, sensory activities, snack, and circle time.

On Thursday, November 10th, First Steps Parent-Child Play & Learn groups will begin its second fall session which will take them to the Christmas holidays. The session is six weeks and costs $50 for the whole session. Families may also choose to drop in to any group for $10/group. First Steps meets in the Manchester Early Childhood Center (MECC) hallway of the Ackerson Building. Pam Wiseman, MECC Administrative Assistant, and this year’s coordinator of Manchester Community Education classes, will answer inquiries about First Steps and register interested families for this second fall session. She can be reached at 428-9711 x1013 or by her email: pwiseman@mcs.k12.mi.us.
