"From a very young age, I enjoyed going to the dentist," says Dr. Kathryn Brown, new dental associate at Adiska Family Dental. "So much so, that I have worn almost every hat in the dental office, at one time or another, on my journey to becoming a dentist.

"I started my career in elementary school, extracting the loose teeth of my younger sister."

However, her more formal education and training began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of Detroit-Mercy. She earned an additional bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan in 2011, and then transitioned to the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, earning her DDS last year.

"Throughout my education, I worked in general dentistry and pediatric practices, strengthening my front office, dental hygiene, and assisting skills," she explains. "Upon earning my DDS, I was accepted to a general practice residency at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital, where I was able to further develop my abilities in more advanced dentistry and work with special needs and medically compromised patients."

Dr. Kathryn says she enjoys all aspects of dentistry including cosmetic dentistry, invisible orthodontics, crowns, bridges, and restoring implants.

She adds, "I sympathize with anyone experiencing tooth pain, and will see them same day to address their dental emergency. Many times I can do a root canal or extraction without the need to refer out."

Dr. Kathryn's patience and sense of humor are two reasons that she enjoys treating children (even as young as six months), as well as patients with special needs.

"I am so excited to be a new member of the Manchester community," she adds. "I'm also excited start my career with Adiska Family Dental, and have enjoyed participating in the local festivals, and attending events that you can only find in a small town."

Dr. Kathryn also looks forward to interacting more with businesses in town, and meeting more members of the community. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and Academy of General Dentistry. In her spare time, she spends time with her family, and enjoys yoga, baking, and figure skating.

Adiska Family Dental, located next to Carr Park at the west end of town, is currently accepting new patients. Check out the website, or call the office at 734-428-8277 for a tour.
