Free Prom Dress Boutique coming to MHS, March 17th

All girls planning on attending prom this year are invited to the 4th annual Free Prom Dress Boutique, which will be held Friday March 17th from 2:45 to 5 pm in the library and student activities room at the Manchester High School, located at 20500 Dutch Drive. There will be dressing rooms available so you can try on and select the perfect dress, and leave with the dress for free. If you can’t make it during this time, organizers will keep the boutique open later by appointment and will open by appointment on Saturday, March 18th between 10 am and 2 pm. Girls can attend with friends and/or bring a parent.

The Manchester Ladies has a huge selection of donated dresses in like-new condition. Clean dresses are accepted year round at the Manchester District Library to be used for this event. Formal dresses purchased new cost hundreds of dollars. The Ladies Society believes that no girl should spend hundreds of dollars on a dress she is going to wear once OR miss this teenage rite of passage because she she can’t afford a dress. Girls often end up borrowing a dress from a friend’s closet to wear to prom. The boutique works the same way, but on a larger scale with more selection. More than 200 dresses are stocked, with some in every size, as well as a small number of purses, shoes, wraps and jewelry.

The Boutique is open to girls in the Manchester School District attending any prom, whatever school they attend, AND to girls from other school districts attending the Manchester High School Prom. Girls attending prom who neither live in the district nor are attending MHS’s prom, but have a parent or grandparent in the district are also invited.
