newspaper-clipart-newspaper-clipart-07Publication of the Manchester Enterprise began in 1867, the same year as the Village of Manchester incorporated, and if still in publication would also be celebrating its sesquicentennial. In honor of this special anniversary, the Manchester Mirror would like to issue a reprint of the earliest Manchester Enterprise still in existence during the first week of August during Manchester's Sesquicentennial celebration. Although we know that the Manchester library owned a physical copy of the very first Enterprise in the late 1970s/ early 1980s, the earliest Enterprise it currently possesses is from 1869. U of M and MSU both include collections of the Manchester Enterprise, but likewise, the earliest editions they own are from 1869. If you own an 1867 Manchester Enterprise or know of a collection containing one and can point us in the right direction, please call us at (734) 328-1386 or email us at themanchestermirror@gmail.com .
