Lady Dutch returned to action Tuesday with a short trip to Chelsea.

Right from the warm up Manchester looked focused and knew what was ahead from a much bigger school. The Lady Dutch stepped up to the mark defensively. The back line, led by Senior Maddy Andreone looked organized and battled for everything.

Both sides battled hard and the first half came to a close at 0 – 0.

Manchester kicked off the 2nd half after a reshuffle in the midfield; Rayna Edwards slid into a more central role with Delanie Osborne moving out wide and Hannah Woods starting up top.

Manchester had the best chance of the game when they pressed higher and the ball ended up at the feet of Hannah Woods from 10 yards out. Unfortunately her shot bounced back off the crossbar and Chelsea was able to clear the ball.

The game was back and forth with a good battle in the midfield, but after an injury to a Chelsea player Manchester seemed to lose focus and conceded a sloppy goal which ended up being the match winner.

The result didn’t justify the performance from the young Manchester team, but one mistake is all it takes and unfortunately Chelsea was able to capitalize.

Final score: Chelsea 1, Manchester 0.
