Saturday, August 5th is already jam-packed with events, but if you are looking for something a bit different than Run Manchester, the Street Festival, or Sesquicentennial fun, ten minutes north of the Village that morning, the Legacy Land Conservancy will be holding a medicinal plant walk in their Sharon Hills Nature Preserve. Land Steward Allene Smith will lead a walk beginning at 10am through the varied botanical communities of the preserve and teach attendees to identify some “herbal allies,” discuss their historical uses as medicine, and explain why today’s trained herbalists prize certain species.

The Sharon Hills Preserve is located off of Sharon Hollow Road (between Walker and Washburn Roads). The event is free. Please dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring a water bottle. Expect to walk no more than two miles, with regular breaks for looking at and talking about plants. Register with Allene at stewardship@legacylandconservancy.org or 734-302-5263.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
