High School principal announces he will resign this fall

Last week, the staff of Manchester High School received word from Principal Dr. Kevin Mowrer that although he hasn’t yet, he will be officially resigning his position sometime this fall. In his message to staff he stated that his wife has accepted a job in another state and they are in the process of selling their house. He hopes to have a departure date in the next few weeks.

In his message to staff, Dr. Mowrer also stated, "This is very bittersweet for me. I love the Manchester Community Schools, and I wish everyone here the best for the future.  I will miss everyone in Manchester so much."

Interim Superintendent Brad Hamilton stated that the district has posted both internally and externally for a principal and/or interim principal, and that Mowrer will help in the transition.

After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Education, Dr. Mowrer taught high school English in Chicago before coming to Manchester High School. He taught English here for two years before being hired as principal in 2006.

Dr. Mowrer is waiting to comment until his resignation is officially presented to the Board of Education.
