Are you a fan of Wonder Woman? Come celebrate your inner Wonder Woman with a special showing of the 2017 Wonder Woman movie staring Gal Gadot on Saturday, Feb. 24th at 3 pm in the Village Room on the lower level of the library. This free event is co-sponsored by the Manchester Ladies Society and the Manchester District Library. Everyone is invited! Dressing up like Wonder Woman is encouraged but not required. Bring a potluck-style snack that can be shared during the movie, potluck style. No RSVP required.

Ladies who want to take the experience up a notch can pre-register to take an action-packed empowerment workshop after the movie at 6 pm, still in costume! The Ladies Society is partnering with Christopher Simpson, a Professor of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and first degree Black Belt at Exhale Yoga (118 East Main Street, downtown Manchester), to offer this 2 hour educational and fun self-defense class with lots of kicking, punching and yelling. You must register and pre-pay for the workshop to reserve your spot. Spaces are limited and participants must be 12 years old or older. No prior experience is required. The workshop is being partially underwritten by the Ladies Society and costs $10 per participant. Register through Exhale Yoga at (734) 307-0925 or their website, www.exhalemanchester.com.

The Manchester Ladies Society is no stranger to celebrating all women as Wonder Women. In 2015 they organized a summer of Wonder Women-themed activities dubbed "the year of the Wonder Woman" which included dressing up as Wonder Woman for the Fair Parade and handing out more than 1,000 crowns which read "Every Woman is a Wonder Woman," hosting a "My mom is a Wonder Woman because..." card making event at the Farmers Market, and bringing the Ann Arbor Derby Dimes to town for a roller derby demonstration promoting athleticism, empowerment, camaraderie, and teamwork.
