Lasinski announces re-election run for 52nd House District

State Rep. Donna Lasinski announced last week that she will be seeking re-election to the Michigan House of Representatives. Rep. Lasinski was joined by over 100 supporters at her campaign kickoff at the Null Taphouse, with featured guest Congresswoman Debbie Dingell. She spoke to the excited crowd about why she wants to continue serving them in Lansing.

“I’ve fought every day in my first year as state rep for families in our district and for the issues we care about, from schools and higher wages to healthcare and broadband,” said Lasinski. “But from listening to you at the more than 20 coffee hours and town halls I hosted, and by knocking on 12,000 of your doors, it’s clear we need to do more to create opportunity for all families. That’s why I’m asking for your support to send me back to Lansing in 2019.”

Rep. Lasinski, a mother and small business owner, is currently serving her first term representing HD 52 after winning her competitive race in 2016 by almost 8 points. In the past year Rep. Lasinski’s achievements have included introducing legislation to increase access to broadband in rural areas, spearheading a bipartisan package of bills to make auto insurance rates more fair and affordable, and voting to increase funding for our local schools.

Congresswoman Dingell spoke in support of Rep. Lasinski, saying, “We know that we can always count on Donna to work hard for us. Last year, while my colleagues in Washington were trying to strip healthcare from millions of Americans, Donna and I worked side by side to fight for quality, affordable health care for every Michigan family,” said Dingell. “Donna supports working families day in and day out, fighting for better roads and bridges, safe drinking water, better wages and lower prescription drug costs. We need to do everything we can to ensure she can keep fighting for Washtenaw County residents in Lansing.”

The general election will be held Nov. 6, 2018. House District 52, comprised of the Cities of Chelsea, Dexter, and Saline, the Village of Manchester and fourteen townships in northern and western Washtenaw County, is the only competitive state house district in the county, with an almost even divide of Democratic and Republican voters.
