Manchester Dutch Wrestlers are Conference Champs!

The Manchester High School wrestling team takes pride in its accomplishments, earning Cascades Conference Champion status for the 11th year running. Six Dutch wrestlers brought home first place medals from East Jackson on Friday night. Seven more brought home second, third, and fourth-place honors. Photo courtesy of Stacy Fry.

For the 11th year, the Manchester Dutchmen wrestling team is Champion of the Cascades Conference for 2018!

In Friday night's conference meet, held in East Jackson, Manchester had six first-place medalists, two second-place medals, a third-place finisher and four who finished the season in fourth place. Congratulations to each and every wrestler who contributed to this season's fantastic (semi) finale!

Now, it's on to state-level competition for both the team and individual wrestlers. Go,Dutch!

The Conference Champion finishers included Drew Gebhardt at 103#, team standout Reese Fry at 112#, Jacob Shelby at 119#, Blake Belaire at 130#, Derek Guenther at 152#, and Charlie Depp at 215#.

In second place, Max Wagner (145#) and Collin McCaffrey (160#) earned their consolation medals after wrestling tough all day.

Third-place Jacob Kurgin, wrestling at 140#, put forth a great effort on the day.

Grant Tungate, wrestling at 125#, along with teammates Josh Bunn (135#), Nick Phillips (171#), and Simon Lato (285#), all had great days of wrestling and  can hold their heads high after earning their medals for fourth place.

Team Districts will be held on Thursday night at Dansville, with wrestling starting at 5 pm. Stay tuned for more Dutch wrestling success!
