Tpr. Dane Smith grew up in Manchester, Michigan and is a graduate of Manchester High School. Trooper Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Michigan State University. Prior to joining the Michigan State Police, Trooper Smith worked at McLennan’s Landscaping in Manchester, and as a data entry clerk at Jackson National Life Insurance Company. The four troopers will now start the Field Training Officer Program (F.T.O), working with a Field Training Officer for the next 17 weeks. This on-the-job training will provide them with knowledge and experience for single officer patrol.
