Wanda King (1921 – 2018)

Her Legacy… Wanda King, Age 97, passed away September 28, 2018.  She was born on March 11, 1921 in Alma, Michigan to Frank and Alma (Noffziger) Hicks.  Wanda married the love of her life, Jay King on January 23, 1943 in Martin, Florida. Wanda worked in accounting as a bookkeeper during WWII at University of Michigan Hospital. Later she worked at Applied Dynamics, Ann Arbor Civic Ballet, Cecchetti Council of America and was office manager of Sylvia Studio of Dance.  She enjoyed floral design, photography, camping trips up north with family and traveled internationally.  Wanda loved her family and her pets who will miss her.

Her Family… Wanda will be missed by her daughters, JoAnn (Mont) Okey and Lee Ann King both of Manchester, seven grandchildren Ryan, Jen, Jeno, Jon, Ben, Kate and Liz, 11 great-grandchildren Ali, Adam, Jack, Riley, Reese, Ryan, Paige, Lizzie, Spencer, Ines and Warren, and one great-great grandchild, William; niece Shirley (Jim) Greening..  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay and son John King, brother Robert Hicks, niece Paula Lawler and nephew Rich Hicks.

Her Farewell… Wanda’s family and friends gathered Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Manchester Chapel with burial following at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Arbor Hospice or Animal Welfare Society of Southeastern Michigan. Please leave a message of comfort for Wanda’s family at 1-877-231-7900, or sign her guestbook at www.borekjennings.com.
