The Manchester Lady Dutch varsity volleyball team ended a busy week on Saturday by claiming the District Championship in the district finals vs. Hudson, played at Columbia Central High School.

The victory was built on wins over Grass Lake on Tuesday and Columbia Central on Thursday in the first two rounds of District semi-final play. The Lady Dutch came out strong at noon on Saturday and beat Hudson by scores of 29-27, 25-13, and 25-17.

Kayla Ridenour led the team with 40 assists and 3 aces; Jayden Humphrey contributed 19 kills, followed by Kayla Engel with 14 and Avery Collins with 8.

Kayla Engel also had 4 blocks; while Kate Pohs had an awesome day with 15 digs.

“We will be playing Vandercook Lake at Springport on Tuesday at 7 pm,” said Coach Trisca Beasley.

Some of the volleyball players and families decorated vehicles outside Kellie’s on Saturday morning, where they fueled up prior to their caravan to the District championship game.
