March is National Reading Month and the Manchester District Library has planned some special programs and events to celebrate!

First, in an effort to encourage kids and teens to get excited to read, the library is holding a March reading challenge. The rules are simple: every child and teen who meets the reading requirement for their age group will have their name entered in a grand prize drawing. The drawing will take place April 1. One prize will be awarded per each age group. Please see the library circulation desk for reading logs and details.

Second, Ms. Angela is launching a new book club for children ages 5 to 8, called Once Upon a Time Book Club. Interested children and their parents are invited to attend the informational meeting on Monday March 4th at 4 pm. In this read-aloud club, participants will co-read a chapter book that they choose. This would be similar to a story time but for older children. They will have membership cards and prizes for completing books. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Struggling readers are encouraged to attend.

And lastly, Ms. Tessa will be holding a workshop, the Nuts and Bolts of Overdrive on Thursday, March 7th at 2 pm. Learn how to check out ebooks and audiobooks on your phone or tablet for reading/listening on the go.

Of course, many of your favorite programs will be continuing this month—story time, maker night, coloring, and family game times. Come to the library and see what services we offer. You may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.
