The annual student art show at the Manchester District Library is just one of the many events happening in April.

It’s April. Spring has definitely sprung (finally), and the Manchester District Library has some terrific programs planned for you!

We will start off the month with the Manchester High School Student Art Show. The open house is Friday, April 5 from 6 to 8 pm and it is open to the public. Can’t make it to the open house? That’s okay! The works of art will be on display at the library through Easter.

The Friends of the Library will hold their first book donation day of the season on Saturday, April 6 from 10 am until noon. Support your library; bring in your gently used books. Current/recent titles are particularly appreciated. Then during the first full week of April, the library will honor National Library Week by holding a food-for-fines collection. Bring in your nonperishable food items April 7-13 for a credit toward your library fines. Maximum credit: $5 per card—see circulation desk for details. Don’t have any fines? We welcome your donation!

In addition, on the third Thursday at 3:30 pm (April 18) we will continue our popular maker night series with “Rock Painting.”  Create some colorful mini works of art to spread a little joy. All supplies provided. Ages 6+. On Wednesday, April 24 at 6 pm, Cindy Clark (Comerica Bank) will be presenting “Protect Yourself from Identity Fraud.”. Data breaches are on the rise, and so is identity theft. Learn how to protect yourself.

And that is not all that’s going on in April! The library will be holding a drawing for a free garden plot in the Manchester Community Garden. Enter between April 130. The winner will be selected by random drawing on May 1.

Of course, the library will still continue to hold all your weekly favorites: “Once Upon A Time Book Club,” story time, knit night, coloring zone and family game time. The staff of the Manchester District Library is committed to providing a destination for community members of all ages. Come to relax, work, or try something new at the Manchester District Library.
