State Sen. Lana Theis reads, "Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum" to youngsters at the Manchester District Library last week. The Senator will be back at the library tomorrow (Tuesday, Aug. 20) from 3-4 pm to talk to constituents.

State Sen. Lana Theis visited Manchester last Tuesday to share stories with young readers at the Manchester District Library. Theis was promoting her district-wide summer reading contest, titled "Be a Senator for a Day," which is open to all students residing in the 22nd Senate District.

Students may participate by obtaining a special bookmark from any of the community libraries located in the district, or from Theis’ office by calling 517-373-2420.

Students’ completed bookmarks should be mailed to Theis’ office; one winner will be selected and will be invited to spend a day at the Capitol with Theis. The contest ends on Sept. 1.

On Friday, Theis' office also announced opportunities for residents to join her for coffee and conversation throughout Washtenaw County on Tuesday, Aug. 20. One of those events will bring her back to the Manchester District Library!

The senator will meet with constituents to take questions, provide information and assistance, and listen to suggestions on issues affecting those in the district. No appointment is necessary to attend.

Any resident who is unavailable may contact Sen. Theis at 517-373-2420 or SenLTheis@senate.michigan.gov to share a thought, concern or idea.

The times and locations are as follows:

Tuesday, Aug. 20: 3-4 pm: Manchester District Library, 912 City Road in Manchester

Tuesday, Aug. 20: 4:30 – 5:30 pm: Chelsea Alehouse, 115 South Main St., Chelsea

Tuesday, Aug. 20: 6 – 7 p.m: Scio Township Hall, 827 North Zeeb Road, Ann Arbor

Sen. Theis jokes with her audience while reading "Grace For President," a book about the election process featuring a student who decides she's going to run for president.
