This year thirty-eight mentor leaders at Manchester High School are starting on a journey together to build community and tackle issues like alcohol, substance abuse, and stress management through a program called Link Crew.

Link Crew is a national student leadership/mentor program designed to help younger students transition into high school. Two Manchester High School teachers, Brad Gerbe and April Stewart, were trained in the program last spring, and last week they trained the 11th & 12th graders who will be assigned as mentors to 9th-grade students. The older students will act as positive role models, motivators, student mentors and teachers to the younger students. Their role will be to help guide the younger students to discover what it takes to be successful during their high school transition

After their training, the mentor leaders held an orientation and BBQ for the incoming 9th grade class Thursday morning.

The School received financial support for the Link Crew program from the 5 Healthy Towns Foundation and Manchester Community Schools Foundation.
