Donna Lasinski elected by Michigan House Democrats to serve as Leader for the 101st Legislature

Thursday, Michigan House Democrats elected Manchester’s State Representative, Rep. Donna Lasinski (District 52) as Democratic Leader for the 101st Legislature that will convene 2021-2022.

Leader-elect Lasinski currently serves as a member of the Caucus leadership team and was elected to her third and final term yesterday. She will succeed Rep. Christine Greig and will serve as the third woman leader in the Michigan House of Representatives. Lasinski’s election to leader also marks the first woman-to-woman leadership transition in Michigan legislative history.

“I am honored to have earned the trust and support of my colleagues to be the Democratic Leader-elect. I am looking forward to working together in the 101st Legislature to build an agenda and set a strategy to deliver results for the people of the State of Michigan,” Lasinski said.

As a pragmatic problem solver, business consultant and education advocate, Leader-elect Lasinski has a wealth of business and legislative experience to take action and deliver practical solutions to enhance educational and economic opportunities for Michiganders, protect our environment, and increase government accountability and transparency.

A resident of Scio Township, Leader-elect Lasinski is a small business owner and founder of ThinkStretch, LLC, a K-12 education company that provides summer learning and retention programs to schools in 38 states.

She earned a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan. Leader-elect Lasinski and her husband Mike, who is also an entrepreneur, are the proud parents of three sons: Alec, Nate and Jack.
