Casino Trip Scheduled as Fundraiser for After Prom Party
Manchester citizens have a only few day left to sign up for a November 23 fundraising bus trip to Firekeeper’s Casino for an evening of gaming, food and fun. For a donation of $40, participants will get a bus ride on a luxury motor coach to the casino, $20 in gambling credit, a $5 food voucher and will be back home by midnight. All the money raised will go to fund Manchester’s After Prom Event this spring.
The bus casino trip is a significant fundraiser for After Prom. According to Carrie Korican, one of the bus trip’s organizers, they held the same fundraiser two years ago and had 85 people sign up. They were able to fill a big and a small bus. She states if they can fill two big busses this year, meaning 110 people, most of the cost for putting on the event will be covered.
Rebecca Brewis, one of the parents helping to plan the event this year, described After Prom this way, “After Prom is an event planned by parents of juniors and supported by the community as an ‘all night FUN and safe party’ held at the high school for students to attend after prom. It is full of food, activities and prizes.” After Prom, which was organized in 2006 takes place immediately after prom and once students check-in, they stay all night. It is free for students, chaperoned by parents and school staff, and keeps high school students off the roads and away from alcohol. It was organized in 2006 by concerned parents as an alcohol-free alternative to post-prom parties in an effort to prevent alcohol-related fatalities on prom night.
Interested gamers need to fill out and return the form on the bottom of the flyer (linked to below) by November 7th!
