Hippity Hoppity – The Easter Bunny Comes to Town!

Manchester families kept the Easter Bunny extremely busy this weekend!  The Easter Bunny made an initial stop on Saturday morning at the Sportsman’s Club to have breakfast with Manchester kids and their families.  Then, of course, the Easter Bunny was found roaming through Carr Park around 1:00 pm prior to the the egg hunt sponsored by the Manchester Men’s Club.  The Bunny had to quietly hop off down the road as the kids collected eggs.  There was still so much to do before dropping off baskets early on Sunday morning!

If you’ve never been to the egg hunt, make plans to attend next year, if just to witness the sheer excitement pouring from all of the kids.  This year, many kept inching closer and closer to the eggs, some of which were on the ground just a few feet away.  Some kids laid claim to specific eggs before they even left their spot!

The Men’s Club always organizes an awesome event with hundreds of dozens of eggs.  This year, they started on Wednesday, boiling and dying 210 dozen eggs.  The eggs were kept refrigerated until Saturday morning, when they were delivered to the park in large insulated bags.  Men’s Club members and friends spread them out all over the park in anticipation of hundreds of little feet racing to pick them up.

…And just as quickly as it begins, it’s over.  Literally within minutes, there was little to no evidence of any eggs whatsoever!

As a Manchester parent, I’d like to thank the hard working Men’s Club for putting on this wonderful event just for the joy of the children.  Your dedication to the families of Manchester is appreciated in every way.

Upcoming Men’s Club activities

1.  The Men’s Club annual Garden rototill will be going on in May. Local tilling for donations.  Sign up sheet at Keith Reed’s barber shop, on the Men’s Club Facebook page, or call John Stedman at 734-231-6284 for scheduling.

2.  The Ribs and Blues Festival on May 17th from 4:00 pm to midnight.  See the flyer here.

3.  The annual Independence Day Fireworks will be held on July 3rd at dusk.  The fireworks are best viewed from Carr Park and the immediately surrounding area.  This event is funded strictly through community donations.  The quality of the show is entirely dependent upon the amount of donations received at the previous year’s fireworks.  The past few years, the donations have been down.  If you’d still like to contribute to this year’s fireworks, please see a Men’s Club member or send to The Manchester Men’s Club, PO Box 171, Manchester,  MI  48158.
