This time of year, staying up late isn’t required to get a good look at the stars. Everyone is invited to the Manchester District Library’s Star Party on Monday, October 27, at 6:30pm. Local astronomer Clay Kessler will bring his high powered telescope, help you focus on the moon, and find neat things like Saturn, Mars, and a galaxy. No registration is required.

If the weather does not cooperate, Kessler will present a slide show and share some of his amazing astro-photography. He will even explain how to take great photos like the one below.

For those interested in exploring astronomy at home, in addition to numerous books on this topic, the library owns 2 astronomy-related science kits: “the night sky” —  which includes a working telescope — and “the solar system” kit, which includes a DIY model of our solar system. The kits are appropriate for ages 7 & up and can be checked out with a library card and taken home for a week at a time.

If you have any questions contact the library at 428-8045.
