At their January meeting, the Civic Club awarded Student of the Month to Selena Brown. She is currently a senior at Manchester High School and the daughter of Sam and Sandra Brown of Manchester.

Brown is the vice-president of her class, vice-president of the Mentor Program and president of the Bowtie Society at MHS. In addition, she is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Club and a mentor to the freshmen class.  Selena has played on the Varsity Soccer team for four years.

Brown supports the greater community by volunteering at Worth Repeating, distributing poppies for Veteran’s Day and serving at the Lenten Breakfast. She organized a blood drive for MHS and coordinated March is Reading Month at Klager Elementary.

With a cumulative GPA of 4.171, Selena Brown has been on the honor roll throughout her high school career. In the fall, she plans to attend Grand Valley State University and study to become a special education teacher for cognitively impaired students.

Manchester Civic Club, in collaboration with the faculty and administration of Manchester High School, selects Student of the Month from applicants based on academic achievement, leadership/participation in extra-curricular activities, and all around service to the school and community.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
