Prom Dress Fashion Show and Afternoon Tea
The Manchester Ladies Society is preparing for their second Free Prom Dress Boutique set for March 21st & 22nd. The weekend before, a selection of the prom dresses will be on display at their first ever Prom Dress Fashion Show & Afternoon Tea.
Tickets are $10 each and are on sale at Frank’s Place, the Coffee Mill, the CRC office and the Manchester Township Office. The Prom Dress Fashion Show & Afternoon Tea will be held March 14th at 2pm at the Fellowship Hall at Manchester United Methodist Church at 501 Ann Arbor Hill St.
What the Ladies Society discovered last year is that people of all ages love to look at prom dresses. While the Prom Dress Shop provides an opportunity for high school girls and their family members to look through the stunning formal dresses, this is an opportunity for everyone in the community to come see a selection of the dresses. The prom dresses will be modeled, runway-style, by 10th grade volunteers.
Theresa Heron, Ladies Society Member and mother of one of the models stated “The girls are really excited about modeling dresses. Since they are 10th graders, they can only go to prom if they’re invited by a junior or senior. So it’s fun to have a reason to try on dresses and show them off. ”
In addition to the fashion show, an afternoon tea will be provided, including a light buffet with finger sandwiches and desserts. There will also be a choice of hot organic loose-leaf teas. After the fashion show, names will be drawn for door prizes.
Ladies Society president Jessica Bushaw stated “The free prom shop was such a hit last year. Our afternoon tea will let women in the community have a first look at what will be at this year’s prom shop. The fashion show is a new event where woman can come out and have fun, check out prom dresses, and drink tea. All Ladies Society events are made for fun and this is going to be a perfect way to spend an afternoon.” Gentlemen and children are invited to attend in addition to ladies. Dress is casual, although dressing up is okay too!
All the money raised will be used to benefit the women and children of Manchester. If you have questions about the event or about the Ladies Society in general, email themanchesterladiessociety@gmail.com.
