Letter to the Editor: Kids Should Walk to School
Dear Manchester Mirror Editor,
My name is Lauren, and I live in Manchester. I think that more kids need to walk to school on Wednesday for the walking to school program. All my facts are from the official website: Active and Safe Routes to School. My Core Democratic Value is the Common Good, because it makes everybody healthy.
First, walking to school gives kids a good start to their day. Most people are happier during the day. This article is not just for kids it is also for parents too. More parents are driving their kids everywhere. Maybe it’s time to change up your Wednesday morning routine.
Next, it gives kids and parents exercise. Kid’s hearts will beat more and that will make them healthier. Kids will breath faster and that also makes them healthier. Some parents get afraid that something is going to happen to their kids but walking to school with them are teachers and also parents.
After that, walking helps people be healthy. The more exercise and playing kids do, the healthier kids are. When people are walking to school they are burning calories. Like I said in the other paragraph, kids and parents are getting their heart beating more. Safe Routes to School always makes sure all the kids doing it are safe.
In conclusion, a town with people that exercise and are healthy is a good town! That is why more kids need to walk to school on Wednesday.
Sincerely, Lauren Blaine
