Western Washtenaw Democrats to Host Proposal 1 Public Forum
As part of its monthly general membership meeting, the Western Washtenaw Democrats will host a panel of guest speakers as they discuss Ballot Proposal 1, to appear on Michigan ballots this May. Coming up this Wednesday, April 15, 2015 7:00 p.m., it will be held at IBEW Local 252 Union Hall; 7920 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor. The public is invited to participate in a question and answer session that will follow the guest speaker presentation. This is a good opportunity to have your questions about Proposal 1 answered.
Featured guest speakers include:
Adam Zemke, State Representative, 55th District. Representative Zemke is serving his second term representing Michigan’s 55th House District, which includes the northern part of the city of Ann Arbor, a portion of the city of Milan, and the townships of Ann Arbor, Augusta, Pittsfield and York. He sits on the Appropriations Committee and serves as minority vice chair on the Education Committee.
Scott Menzel, Superintendent, Washtenaw Intermediate School District. Mr. Menzel became superintendent of Washtenaw Intermediate School District on July 1, 2011. Prior to that, he spent four years as superintendent of the Livingston Education Service Agency and five years as superintendent of Whitmore Lake Public Schools. Scott will talk about the impact ballot Proposal 1 will have on schools in the WISD.
Roy D. Townsend, P.E., Managing Director, Washtenaw County Road Commission. As Managing Director, Roy oversees all operations, financial and engineering activities. He also meets with local elected officials to discuss road funding options and look for ways to improve the revenue stream for activities at the road commission.
Matt Kapp, Government Relations Specialist, Michigan Farm Bureau. Matt assists the Farm Bureau organization in all elements of political elections including helping with the management of Farm Bureau’s PAC activities and ballot proposals.
