Aurora Rickelmann was selected as the Civic Club’s April 2015 Student of the Month.

Aurora is a member of the National Honor Society and Future Farmers of America. In addition to school, she supports the greater community by volunteering at the Brooklyn Assisted Living Center and Chelsea Retirement Community. Aurora has helped with the Manchester Chicken Broil, MCS Foundation Crab Races, Manchester Fish Fry, the high school Red Cross Blood Drive and has rung bells for the Salvation Army.

With a cumulative GPA of 4.183, Aurora has been on the honor roll for all of her high school career. In the fall, she will attend Washtenaw Community College to study nursing. She has been accepted into the 2 + 2 Nursing Program, where she will attend Washtenaw for two years and then transfer to Eastern Michigan University for two years.

In addition to the student of the month presentation, a selection of fourth graders who’d recently completed the TEAM program presented their essays at the Civic Club meeting. TEAM Graduation is a program Klager Elementary participates in in conjunction with the Washtenaw Count Sheriff’s Office to teach students to make good decisions about drugs, alcohol, and personal safety.

Manchester Civic Club, in collaboration with the faculty and administration of Manchester High School, selects Student of the Month from applicants based on academic achievement, leadership/participation in extra-curricular activities, and all around service to the school and community.
