Eight fourth-grade students from Klager Elementary School presented essays to the Manchester Civic Club on Monday, April 13. The compositions outlined topics they had learned during a 10-week course titled TEAM, which stands for Teaching, Educating, and Mentoring.

TEAM is conducted annually at the school in cooperation with the Washtenaw County Sherriff’s Office. The lessons were taught by Deputy Jessica Wion and covered matters such as: drug and alcohol abuse, cyber safety, gun safety, stranger danger, bullying, and more. The capstone project at the end of the course was to write a TEAM essay.

Two students from each class (one male and one female) were selected to read their papers during the TEAM graduation held on January 9 and again at last month’s Civic Club meeting.

This year’s selected students were Michelle Arntz and Zachary Hoadley from Mr. Niehaus’s class, Alden Palmeter and Roseanna Zeiner from Mrs. O’Mara’s class, Mathilda Hahne and Garrett Corwin from Mrs. Van Raden’s class, and Hannah Kominars and Reese Schoeneman from Mrs. Hanewald’s class.

Editor’s Note: Photo was also run with last week’s article but we did not have student’s names at the time of publication.
