Ice Cream Social Season Starting Soon

Church ice cream socials are a summer staple in Manchester. Mark your calendars for:

– Wed. July 1 – Sharon United Methodist Church, corner of M-52 and Pleasant Lake Road
– Thurs. July 9 – Bethel United Church of Christ, 10425 Bethel Church Road
– Thurs. July 23 – St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 210 W. Main St.
– Thurs. August 6 – Emanuel United Church of Christ, 324 W. Main St.

Delicious dinners available include beef barbeque, hot chicken sandwiches and hot dogs, with German and American potato salads, coleslaw, baked beans, and macaroni & cheese. Meals are then topped off with homemade cakes and pies and, of course, a generous serving of ice cream. Some ice cream socials offer a country store or bazaar. Held rain or shine, in the case of questionable weather they are moved indoors. Times vary but usually they begin around 5pm and run into early evening.

Don’t want to wait? St. Paul United Church of Christ located at 122 W. Michigan Ave., in Saline will be holding their ice cream social on Thursday, June 18th and six days later,  Zion Lutheran Church located at 3050 S. Fletcher Rd. will be holding theirs on Wednesday, June 24. Also in our area, St. James United Church of Christ located at 11005 W. Michigan Ave., in Saline will be holding theirs on Thursday, July 2.
