Creole du Nord Brings Cajun Sound to Gazebo
For a taste of southwest Louisiana’s traditional music, bring your chair and your dancing shoes to the Gazebo in Wurster Park this Thursday to enjoy the sounds of “Creole du Nord.”
The band plays a mixture of Zydeco, Cajun, and other sounds from America’s roots, mixed with crossover tunes as in “Alberta” or “Click Ole Hen” –all of it rooted in pre-mass media Americana.
On accordion, fiddle, guitar, bass, banjo ukelele, and percussion, they mix things up create what the band refers to as “… down-home sounds for sawing or two-steppin’ on a sawdust floor …”
CND is proud to be a small part of keeping this passionate music alive. It’s become of mission of band leader Mark Palms to find Cajun tunes, waltzes, and old time fiddle music that lift the spirit. Featuring Mike Zivsak on fiddle and scrubboard, Palms on accordion and fiddle, Randy Markey on guitar, banjo, and ukelele, Chuck Anderson playing acoustic and electric bass, and Geoff Kinde (or Stuart Tucker) on percussion, Creole du Nord loves what they do and it shows in their performances.
