Two FREE Movies in Manchester This Friday: Home & The Good Lie
On Friday, August 21st at 3 pm, the Manchester District Library will be showing the DreamWorks animated movie Home, about an alien on the run from his own people who lands on Earth and makes friends with the adventurous Tip, who is on a quest of her own. The movie will be shown in the Village Room on the lower level of the Library at 912 City Road on a large screen using a new, digital projector. This event is FREE and open to the public. Children MUST be accompanied by an adult for this Show.
Later that evening, about 9 pm, the Sharon United Methodist Church will be showing The Good Lie for outside behind the Fellowship Hall, also for FREE and open to the public (donations will be accepted). The Good Lie, rated PG13, stars Reese Witherspoon and is about a group of Sudanese refugees given the chance to resettle in America arrive in Kansas City, Missouri, where their encounter with an employment agency counselor forever changes all of their lives. In case of inclement weather (or bad mosquitos) it will be shown inside. Popcorn and beverages will be available for purchase. Sharon United Methodist Church is located at 19980 Pleasant Lake Rd.

On Tuesday, August 25th at 7 pm, the Manchester District Library and Stewards of Western Washtenaw will show Promised Land, rated R, staring Matt Damon and Frances McDormand in the Village Room on the lower level of the library. In Promised Land, a salesman for a natural gas company experiences life-changing events after arriving in a small town, where his corporation wants to tap into the available resources. Snacks will be available for a nominal fee.
Next Friday, August 28th around 9 pm Sharon United Methodist Church will be showing the Disney movie Million Dollar Arm, rated PG, staring John Hamm behind their fellowship hall. In Million Dollar Arm, a sports agent stages an unconventional recruitment strategy to get talented Indian cricket players to play Major League Baseball.

Free Movie Night at the library is part of the Awareness Series hosted by the Manchester District Library and Stewards of Western Washtenaw. Movies are shown on the 4th Tuesday every month at 7pm in the Village Room below Manchester District Library. Questions? Email mprusak@manchesterlibrary.info.
