The Manchester Youth Orchestra (MYOP) is now accepting registrations for their upcoming auditions on December 22nd. Any area musician (strings, winds, brass, or percussion) ages 9-14 can apply to be invited to audition for the youth orchestra. Additional requirements include submitting a teacher recommendation, having an instrument, participating in private lessons or enrolled in a school music program, and at least two years experience.

Audition requirements include playing 2 scales and a prepared solo or excerpt.

Rehearsals will start January 3, 2016 and will take place every Sunday afternoon from 3pm-5pm at the Manchester United Methodist Church. At least two concerts will be performed by the ensemble that will cover intermediate orchestral repertoire in the classical, jazz and folk styles of music.

Violinist and music educator Lisa Tarzia has been appointed as the conductor of the MYOP. A former string specialist and orchestra director with the Jackson Public Schools, Lisa is currently teaching at Hillsdale College and maintains a private violin studio in Ann Arbor where she was born and raised.
