Sign-up is open for winter session Community Ed classes.

Elementary & Middle School:

NEW Klager Science Club for 1st – 4th graders, meets 3:15 – 4:15 pm every other Thursday in the Klager art room. Learn about a different science topic through a hands-on activity at each meeting, discuss latest science discoveries & breakthroughs, and work on your own science-fair style project to be presented at Math and Science Night in April. $10 lab fee for supplies (can be waived.) NEW Computer Science Club for 4th-8th graders. Meets 3:15 – 4:15 pm on Thursdays at the Middle School. Create and share your own digital stories using Google CS First software. Design stories, share animations and learn how technology is used in the film and media industry. You can watch a cool video about this on the school website. Meets for 8 weeks. Bricks 4 Kidz Brick Club for K – 4th graders. Meets 3:15 – 4:15 pm on Wednesdays in the Klager Art Room. Build and learn with classic and technic LEGO bricks, motors, gears, pulleys, batteries, and more, all based on the core standards for STEM. Upcoming theme is “Wheels in Motion.” Build and learn about cars, dragsters, fire trucks, rescue bots, more! $70 for 7 weeks. Click HERE for more information and registration link. Gym America on Wheels-Gymnastics for preschool – 4th graders on Wednesdays in the Klager Gymnasium. Class 1 (for elementary ages) meets 3:15 to 4 pm. Class 2 for preschool ages meets 4 to 4:45 pm and Class 3 (for elementary ages) meets 4:45 to 5:30 pm. These classes offer a positive and fun environment with specialized gymnastics equipment, including tumbling mats, balance beams, mini training bar, wedge and octagon shaped fun mats, vaulting stations, and much more—including preschool-sized equipment for younger children. $60 for 5 weeks. Little Ninjas & Kids Power Karate Classes for ages 4 – 12 on Mondays in the Ackerson Building. Little Ninjas (for 4 & 5 year olds) meets from 6 to 6:30pm. Kids Power (for 6 – 12 year olds) meets 6:45 to 7:30pm. Little Ninjas is an introductory karate class focused on teaching children eight important main life skills: Focus, Memory, Teamwork, Discipline, Self-Control, Fitness, Balance, and Coordination through exciting and fun games and activities! Kids Power offers traditional martial arts training emphasizing self-defense, physical fitness, conflict resolution, team work and anti-kidnapping techniques. This program does not promote active aggressiveness, but teaches children to respect themselves, others and the skills they learn. $35 for 6 weeks. Parent & Child:

Manchester First Steps Play & Learn Parent-Child Groups – for parents and their children aged birth through 5. Meets Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 pm and Thursday mornings from 9:30 to 10 am. 1½ hour parent-child interaction groups that offer your child a beginning school routine of free play in a classroom setting, as well as snack and circle activities to help facilitate early peer interactions. Parents have the opportunity to watch and support their child as they explore a new environment while socializing with other parents! A trained early childhood professional plans the daily activities and is available to answer your child development questions. Meets 6 weeks. $50 for 1 class per week, $75 for 2 classes per week or drop-in fee of $10 per class. (Scholarships are available.) Click Here for more information and the registration form. High School and Adult:

Winter Scrapbooking stand alone workshops for high schoolers and adults. Each meet on a Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm in Klager Art room. Workshops include a layout, pocket scrapbooking, Circut 101 and more! Costs vary with workshop. Click HERE for more information and registration form. Workshops begin Jan 6th.

NEW Nutrition Series: East Healthy – Be Active for adults. Meets 6 to 7:30 pm on Mondays in room 101 at the Manchester High School. Learn to eat healthy on a budget; increase your physical activity; discover tips for reaching and maintaining a healthy weight; prepare quick, healthy meals and snacks; enjoy healthy food that tastes great and make healthy eating a part of your total lifestyle.
