Leah Nitchie named Student of the Month
The Student of the month for January is Leah Nitchie. Leah is currently a senior at Manchester High School, the daughter of Ron and Pam Nitchie and loving sister of Lauren Nitchie of Manchester.
During her high school career, Leah has been a member of the Drama Club, National Honor Society, Bow-Tie Society and is currently serving as Class President. She is also a mentor to the freshman class members. Leah can be heard singing the National Anthem at the home Girls’ Varsity Basketball games and has had several roles in the school plays and musicals. She has worked hard throughout her high school career at sports, taking college courses while in high school, drama events, and maintaining her grades.
Leah volunteers for the greater community by participating in bell ringing for the Salvation Army, reading at Klager for March is Reading Month, and participating in a can drive to support Manchester Family Services. She has represented her class as on the Homecoming Court and as Fair Queen Court for two years. Leah is also a High and Middle School Ministry Worship Leader at Northridge Church.
Leah has a cumulative GPA of 3.830 and is planning to attend Washtenaw Community College to complete her nursing degree before transferring to Eastern Michigan University for a bachelors degree.
Manchester Civic Club, in collaboration with the faculty and administration of Manchester High School, selects Student of the Month from applicants based on academic achievement, leadership/participation in extra-curricular activities, and all around service to the school and community.
