139th Manchester High School Annual Alumni Association Banquet
All graduates of Manchester High School are invited to attend the 139th Alumni Reunion Banquet on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Manchester High School, 20500 Dutch Drive to enjoy an evening of good food and reminiscing. The social hour will begin at 5 pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm. The cost is $18 per person. Chartwells Dining Services will be preparing dinner. This is your once-a-year opportunity to meet and mingle with some very special people; classmates and friends who have been privileged to graduate from Manchester High School.
Reservations are due by June 6th. To reserve your place, make checks payable to Manchester H.S. Alumni Assoc., and mail to Manchester H.S. Alumni Association, P.O. Box 254, Manchester, MI 48158. Alumni books (that have only the list of graduate names) will be on sale at the banquet for $6 each. Email any changes to address or names along with graduation year to MHSDutchAlumni@yahoo.com.
The Alumni Association was formed after the first 25 students had graduated from Manchester’s Union School, held the first Alumni Reunion on June 8, 1877. Although common in the past, Manchester is one of the few remaining schools that still hold an annual alumni reunion. This year special recognition will be given to the following classes: 1946, 1956, 1966, 1976, and 2016.
While the $18 charge covers the cost of food and helps cover some of the extra costs, the Alumni Association continues to have challenges covering the all of the banquet expenses. Their major expense is postage, which, due to rising postage costs, is now over $1,000. Generous donations by Alumni in 2015 helped last year and the Association is asking for donations again to cover this expense.
