The Manchester Community Fair announced this weekend that it has added a new event to the Fair this year: The Power Wheels Derby. Organizers intend the Power Wheels Derby to be an exciting and fun event for kids ages 3 to 10 who weigh less than 130 pounds. Each participant will have a balloon attached to the front and back of the power wheels. The last person with an inflated balloon wins! The number of participants will dictate the classes, but the intent is to break the classes down by age: 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8 and 9 & 10.

You can pre-register your child by emailing the Manchester Community Fair at manchesterfair@yahoo.com or with a Facebook message. Organizers need the full name of the child, the child’s date of birth; parents/guardian full name, contact number and car number, if using one. Parents/guardian will be required to sign a release waiver before race. Be at the Fairgrounds at least a half hour prior to the beginning of derby on the night of participation, Tuesday through Saturday.

Saturday is the championship night. The top two placers of each night will be invited back for the championship at 6:30pm for inspection. The Championship Derby will begin at 7pm.

There is no entry fee, if you bring your own power wheel and a $5 fee if you use one of the Fair’s (limited number available). Normal Gate Fees apply to enter the Fairgrounds. For complete rules please see the fair book page 7 also located online at manchesterfair.org.

If you have a power wheels that you would like to donate to the fair, please contact them at manchesterfair@yahoo.com, though their Facebook page, or contact Steven Harvey at 734-428-7803.

For as little as $1 a month, you can keep Manchester-focused news coverage alive.
