The Manchester District Library is pleased to announce it recently added more than 50 new titles to its popular Graphic Novel collection.
According to Publishers Weekly, graphic novels are the one of the fastest growing categories in library collections. Their popularity continues to grow as they evolve from just superheroes—though these continue to be hugely in demand—to include genres of all types. Even age-old fairy tales have gotten the graphic novel treatment.
However, it should also be noted that graphic novels are not just kids’ stuff. Indeed, some titles, such as Maus by Art Spiegelman and Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, have made it onto the syllabi of college literature courses. The Manchester District Library maintains both juvenile and adult graphic novel collections.
Among the titles recently acquired are New 52 by DC Comics, the Fables series, Hellblazer, Preacher, new installments of The Walking Dead, and the first volume of the new series Why I Hate Fairyland. Stop by the Manchester District Library at 912 City Road to explore the collection!
