Manchester to participate in Farm to Table Dinner in Chelsea

On Sunday, Aug. 21, from 4:45-7:30 pm, 5 Healthy Towns will be holding a Farm to Table Dinner for 150 guests in downtown Chelsea! The event will be held at the Chelsea Farmer’s Market Lot – Downtown Chelsea 222 S. Main Street. All proceeds will go to the 5 Healthy Towns Farmers Markets, including Manchester’s. Tickets are $65 per person and include 2 drinks for those over 21 years old. Tickets can be purchased here.

The menu includes Watermelon Gazpacho – prepared by Dave Gallinat of Chelsea’s The Plaid Melon, Michigan Berry Salad – prepared by Dawna Stockwell of Manchester’s Stockwell Catering, Mini Caprese Salad – prepared by Dexter resident Alex Young of Zingerman’s Roadhouse, Herb Roasted Half Chicken with Grilled Michigan Veggies – prepared by Ben Vermeylen of St. Joe-Chelsea Community Hospital, and Roasted Michigan Peaches with Housemade Buttermilk Vanilla Ice Cream, Raspberry Sauce, and Sponge Cake – prepared by Craig Common of The Common Grill.

Manchester’s own Dawna Stockwell will be representing Manchester on the chef end. She stated, “I will be making a summer salad with mixed greens, red onion, raspberries if available, peaches or apples – which ever one is available, caramel pecans, grated cheese, and my homemade sweet-and-sour dressing! I will be preparing the salad in Manchester at our store, but plating it at the event.”

The meal will featuring local fruit and vegetables, meat, wine, and beer, flowers and more from the 5 Healthy Towns Farmer’s Markets and the Manchester Community Garden Committee-grown plot.

Organizers are still in need of volunteers for the day of the event! This is a great opportunity for high schoolers, church groups, and anyone interested in food, farming, eating better, and wellness. You can sign-up here.
