The Sun Shines on the Dutch Equestrian Team
As the sun rose on Sunday, September 11th, the second District 10 High School equestrian meet of the season began. Before the day ended, Manchester High School Equestrians had remained undefeated in Division B with their second win of the season. The final results of the meet were: Manchester 194, Tecumseh 168, Milan 98, Onsted 81 and Grass Lake 55.
Manchester and Tecumseh remained “neck and neck” for most of the day, trading the lead after each series of events. “We held a small 12 point lead heading into speed riding, but Tyler and Bailey Elliot, Allison Reppert, and Julia Johnson, helped us stay ahead with some clutch riding in the final events. Also, Junior Alexander Clark, one of this year’s team captains, had great rides throughout the day and finished as our high point rider of the meet,” said Manchester Coach Donna Clark.
“Our final District 10 meet comes this Sunday, September 17th, with a trip to the Regional semifinals at stake. Our record is now 2-0. Each of the riders will be working particularly hard this week, perfecting small details of their equitation, learning new patterns and polishing their showmanship skills, and fine tuning their reining, jumping, trail and speed performances,” stated Clark. “The team is one step closer to meeting their goal of a District Championship and moving on to the Regional competition October 1st and 2nd in Mason. Go Dutch!”
